“Political Masquerades” is a theme that depicts how, in the political world, actors and stakeholders push for agendas while hiding behind masks that represent equality and push for agendas like human rights. Just like a masquerade, no one knows who is behind each mask and what their intentions are. The United Nations resembles a masquerade ballroom, as each step taken is meticulously tailored to further their own intentions, as the world's citizens fail to recognize that diplomats, world leaders, and politicians have different agendas hidden from the public.
This theme allows delegates to examine the world of politics and look beyond the mask so strategically paraded in our faces through debates, seeing past the deceptive words that politicians use within United Nations halls. At YouthMUN’26, delegates are encouraged to destroy this mask and unveil the reality of our politically fragmented world through committees where they set out on a journey to explore the topics at hand and resolve the issues centered around all our committees and related topics.
